Showing my wings, maybe not?

Morning All,

As I was writing my title for this hop I found a big blunder.   But first these are the fabric
scraps I picked out.  Love my scraps.

I haven't made any thing for my home for about three or four years.  While I was originally going to make a baby quilt with these appliques , but I had to switch to these kitchen hand towels because of shoulder pain.
It seem I may have torn my rotator cup,  I have been referred to an orthopedic surgeon on the 25th of this month. While I can't handle using the cutter and can use the scissors.  Enough of that.

I'm cutting cost at home and we use way too many paper towels,  So I'm using white hand towels
from when I closed my shop ( hair and tanning salon) for just drying hands in kitchen.  Hubby hasn't caught on to that part yet.  so  there are some stains.  The bright colors pull your eyes away from those and covers a few.

These are totally scrapy made and I have nine more to go at this time,  who knows for sure.
The top one is almost finished  I have to embroider stilts legs and eyes.
I will share as I finish them this summer

Oh yes the blunder out of all the birds only one had wings.  back  to the drawing board. 8-)

Thanks to Carol at https://www.justletmequilt.com/ For heading up this cute hop.

  1. Good Morning! I hope your surgery goes well on your rotator cup. Just to have the pain stop and have some mobility back in your arm will be a relief, I'm sure. These are very cute hand towels, and I especially love the the adorable one with the black polka dotted boots. They have to make you smile! ~smile~ Roseanne

  2. No blunder here! The birds didn't have to have actual wings on them, they just had to be something that has wings. All three of them are so dang cute, but the one with the boots stole my heart...love him! Your towels would make clean-ups a happy event. Thank you for sharing your sweet wings today!

  3. Hi Tonia! It is so nice to see your post today. I love the birds and all of the fabrics you chose for them. The hand towels are a great idea but these look too pretty to use. Best of luck with the shoulder. My husband had a large hole in his rotator cuff and he experienced immediate relief after his surgery.

  4. Terrific idea for reducing paper products while adding some cheerful colors to your kitchen. High five from one Kentucky sewer/ quilter to another!

  5. Prayers for your surgery. My sister just had hers done a week ago. Your towels are wonderful. And even though you didn't add wings, birds have wings, so I think they count. These are so bright and pretty. Thanks for sharing and inspiring. quilting dash lady at comcast dot net

  6. Oh Tonia, I'm so sorry to hear about your shoulder. Sending hugs and best wishes to you. Your birds are absolutely adorable. We all know that birds have wings, so these are perfect for the hop! And "perfectly" adorable. The are so bright and cheery. Just what we need this time of year. I think I can speak for most of us in the USA anyway. WE are done with winter. Time to look towards cheerful birdy time!

  10. I am so sorry to hear about your rotator cuff issues, Tonia. My hubby damaged his in a fall many years ago and required surgery. The physical therapy after was very helpful gaining back full usage of his arm. May you soon be on the mend and enjoying using your rotary cutter again. Your projects are colorful and work inspiring. Thank you for sharing in the hop ... <3 Pat

  28. Wonderful birds, such a great idea! Your did well with your sore shoulder. I totally relate as my back & shoulder have been a mess since mid October. NO sewing or swimming for this avid quilter/swimmer. Sad … but hope you are mended soon. Thanks for joining in the hop & sharing your creativity!

  32. I am loving those birds SEW MUCH! They just bring a smile that I can't shake! Men don't seem to understand about dish towels and that their purpose is to dry off clean things, not to wipe up dirty things.
