Small Smaller and Smallest

Good morning all,
I'm just going to cut to the chase here,
I had several ideas I wanted to tray for this, so I decided to do all three.  The small project being first
A baby doll quilt out of a extra block.     .

The smaller being next of course.
Can't decide if I like the vintage buttons or not, so I just used a dot of glue hold them.
I'm thinking of tying them with some black heavy thread.  Do you think that would help?
or take them off?

Of course that brings us to the smallest.
He is made of a vintage wool ladies blazer.

I found sometimes small is not as easy as it looks.
I had a lot of fun though.

That's my version of Small  Smaller  Smallest
I want to thank Carol for hosting hop, no stress, just fun.
Hope you enjoyed the visit.  Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to see the other ladies.
In case you missed any day of the hop here is the entire list of participants.

Have a blessed day.

  1. Those are so cute! That is a tiny scottie dog. I think small can be really hard and you did a great job on it. I like the buttons on your verse. I think they'd look cute tied with different colors of thread, like yellow on the blue button, etc.

  2. I love the vintage buttons but would use matching threads for each button, not black.

  3. Those are all lovely projects and the buttons are nice with your embroidery. I adore that scrappy dog from a coat. Isn't that what our grandparents would have done back in the day...waste not...Since I've picked up the sewing bug, I find it hard to give away clothing that no one wants to wear anymore. Should I cut up my hubby's shirts that are still in good condition but not wanted? Do I cut up two perfectly good cotton tops that I can't fit into anymore (ahem) or donate them where they can be used? Such dilemmas. Thanks for showing what an old coat can become...he's adorable.

  4. I love your little bible verse embroidery piece. So pretty! I would leave the buttons. It adds a lot to it. I might tie a piece of white or yellow floss in the button holes

  5. Three lovely makeries here. If you keep the buttons, I would use different coloured thread as Marti suggested. Cute as cute little scottie dog. Yes, stitching small does cause a few hiccups, doesn't it.

  6. Every Teddy needs a lap quilt, the embroidery is stunning and very sweet Scottie repurposing a coat.

  7. I love all of the projects, I definitely think you should keep the buttons, they look beautiful with the frame.

  8. I love making “tiny” projects! Yours are so sweet. I would use black ties for the buttons to tie in with black lettering of the verse you have “written”.
Such a cute Scottie dog ..... I struggle to make myself cut up clothes for stitching, I can’t help thinking of the time and energy (electricity) that has gone into making clothes, it just seems wrong somehow! Not to say I haven’t though!

  11. Love all your projects! I would stitch down the buttons--I like them there. Thanks for sharing!

  12. I really like all of your projects but the stitched verse is my favorite. I think the buttons would look nice using a black thread tied to the top, with very short ends loose at the top. I'm probably not making myself clear but no matter how you finish it, it is lovely.

  13. Exactly...small is not easy. I know that from making doll clothes. Loved your projects and using a orphan block for the doll quilt was perfect. I like the buttons and the black thread would tie them all together. Have you considered tying the thread at the front of the buttons and leaving a short thread tail on them?

  14. Adorable projects and guess I'm the oddity here as I would leave the buttons off so the words remain the key focus. rozz01(at)cox(dot)net

  15. What sweet projects! Love the scotty dog from an upcycled coat. Brilliant! Definitely leave the buttons and add the black thread. They look great on that project. I never think to use orphan blocks like that, have no idea why????? Much better than leaving them lying around.

  16. Oh my gosh, they are all so cute! Yes, sometimes small is hard and I tend to think big and bigger when I sew, but you did a great job on small things for this hop. Such a sweet little blanket to cover the bear. I love the buttons and think a little black thread would definitely make them show up more, but it is beautiful as is. The dog...oh my...cute, cute! Great way to use a vintage jacket. Thanks for hopping with us and sharing your projects! :O)

  17. I found that I spent more time on the smallest project for sure so I really get it when you say small isn't always easy. Your projects are so heartfelt and I do think a little black thread would make those buttons pop. Your dog is so super cute.

  19. Love your stitchery and dolly quilt. I hear you loud and clear when your talking about small not being that easy to do. I remember those tiny little animals from when I crafted. Oh the hours of work.

  22. Great projects! I really like the stitchery WITH the buttons. Please don't take them off.

  23. Your projects are fabulous! Tiny is harder, for sure!! I think your idea of black thread to hold on your cute buttons is a perfect solution...it will tie in the stitchery just perfectly (and your quote is so right!).

  24. Tonia, you make me look baaaad as you really sewed up projects that were small, smaller and smallest! Each of your items are so sweet and I'm sure the doggie was a tough one (I'd call him Blaze). Love those buttons too!

  29. Working small isn't the easiest thing to do, so I have to admire these. As for the button question - I like them, but I think I'd put something in the center in yellow (beads, maybe?) to make them look like flowers.

  32. Oh yes keep the buttons, all those projects are sweet, the little dog matches a skirt I once had decades ago.

  34. All so pretty Tonia. Yes, matching thread on the buttons would look good. That little scotty dos is adorable!
